Reader’s Choice Finalists

In Poetry on November 9, 2011 at 4:00 am

Golden Sparrow is going to add 2 Reader’s Choice Finalists from the poems published in our General Poetry Segment until 15th November.

Voting Process: [Vote] – Poet 1 – Poem Title. Poet 2 – Poem Title.
Voting closes: 20th November

How to Vote:

Three ways to vote via Facebook./Twitter/Out Website.

Facebook: We have posted a thread on our wall asking readers to vote. Any of our ‘Friends’ can vote by replying to the thread. The first vote is a dummy vote by us to show you how it is done. It takes less than a minute to vote but hopefully a lot, lot longer to make a fair judgement on whom to vote for.

Twitter: Each time we posted a poem we Tweeted about it. Any of our ‘Followers’ on Twitter can RT (Retweet) the tweet of the 2 poems they liked the most. Attention: 2 is mandatory.

Website: People who have subscribed to the website for updates – There is a like button under each poem. Readers can like 2 of their favorite poems (registered wordpress users) or they can leave a comment saying [vote] (not registered users) – This one is for poets and audiences who aren’t into Facebook or Twitter. Again, 2 is mandatory.

Why 2 poems? So that friends of poets can help the poets get to the slot but will have to nominate someone they don’t know at the same time. This will keep the dynamic fair, we believe (and hope).

Why audience poll? Because 2 things make a magazine – Poets & Poetry Lovers – we want this competition to do something for both.

What does this mean for the poets themselves? Can they vote? Yes! But NO self-nominating.

Also, for the poets published, if you have submitted to the competition AND been published on the website (and end up as the 2 poems selected by readers, then BOTH your poems will be in our shortlisted finalist-list. Why? Cause we’re doing the judging blind for the contest entries and it is only fair if you managed to make it by impressing the judging on both ends.

This is quite a social media experiment and we hope it works. Feel free to spread the word to your friends and others.
